Privacy Policy
We collect what we need. We protect what you share.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Hunt for Success collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We've written it in plain English because we believe you have the right to understand exactly how your information is handled — not to decipher it from legal language designed to obscure rather than inform.
The short version: we collect very little. We use what we collect only for the purpose it was submitted. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't have advertisers. If you submitted a guest application, your information is read by Sam McGough and no one else outside the production team. If you want us to delete anything we hold about you, ask and we will.
What Information We Collect
Hunt for Success collects information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you use the site.
Information you give us directly includes:
Guest application submissions — your name, company or organization, professional background, outdoor pursuits, motivations for applying, and any links you choose to provide. This is submitted voluntarily through the application form on this site.
Email or contact inquiries — if you reach out to us directly via email for sponsorship, legal, or general inquiries, we retain that correspondence.
Information collected automatically when you visit the site includes:
General usage data via analytics software — pages visited, time spent, general geographic region, device type, and browser type. This data is aggregated and not personally identifiable in our use of it.
We do not collect payment information. We do not collect account credentials. We do not require registration to access any content on this site.
How We Collect It
Direct information is collected through the guest application form on this website. When you fill out and submit that form, the information is transmitted to and stored by our form handling service and is accessible only to the Hunt for Success production team.
Automatic information is collected through Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to collect standard usage data. We use this data in aggregate to understand how the site is being used and to improve it. We do not use Google Analytics data to identify individual visitors.
If you interact with embedded third-party media players — including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube embeds — those platforms may collect their own data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not control that collection.
We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, retargeting tools, or behavioral profiling of any kind.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
Guest application data is used to evaluate whether you are a suitable guest for Hunt for Success. It is read by Sam McGough and the production team. It is not used for any other purpose.
Email and contact inquiries are used to respond to the inquiry and, where relevant, to maintain a record of the correspondence.
Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand site performance — which pages are visited, how long visitors spend on them, and what content is most useful. This informs improvements to the site. It is not used to identify individual visitors or to build profiles.
We do not use your information to send unsolicited marketing communications. We do not add you to any mailing list or email program without your explicit consent. We do not sell, license, or share your information with any third party for commercial purposes.
Guest Application Data — Specific Treatment
Because guest application submissions contain substantive personal and professional information — including your business background, career history, and personal pursuits — we want to be specific about how this data is handled.
Who reads it: Sam McGough and the Hunt for Success production team. No one else.
How it is stored: Application submissions are stored in our form handling service, access-controlled to the production team. We do not export or migrate this data to third-party marketing platforms.
How long we keep it: We retain applications for up to 24 months to allow for future season consideration. If your application is declined and you do not wish to be considered for future seasons, you may request deletion at any time.
What we do not do with it: We do not sell it. We do not share it with sponsors, partners, or advertisers. We do not use it to contact you for any purpose unrelated to your application. We do not publish any application information without your explicit permission.
Your application is a conversation between you and Sam. We treat it accordingly.
Analytics and Site Performance
This website uses Google Analytics to collect anonymized usage data. Google Analytics is a service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
The information collected includes: pages visited, session duration, approximate geographic location at the region level, device type, browser type, and traffic source. This data is used only in aggregate. We do not use it to identify or track individual visitors.
Google Analytics sets cookies on your device to facilitate this data collection. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
You can also disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to access or use any content on this site.
For more information on how Google handles data collected through Google Analytics, visit google.com/policies/privacy.
Third-Party Platforms and Embeds
Hunt for Success distributes podcast content through third-party platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube. This website may contain embedded players or links to content hosted on those platforms.
When you interact with an embedded third-party player on this site, the platform providing that player may collect data independently — including your IP address, device information, and playback behavior — in accordance with their own privacy policies. This data collection is outside our control.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any platform you use:
Apple Podcasts: apple.com/legal/privacy
Spotify: spotify.com/legal/privacy-policy
YouTube: policies.google.com/privacy
This site may also load resources from Google Fonts and Iconify CDN for typography and iconography. These services may log standard request data (IP address, browser type, timestamp) in accordance with their own policies. No personally identifiable information from our visitors is transmitted to these services beyond what is standard in an HTTP request.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. This website uses cookies in the following limited ways:
Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics to collect the usage data described in Clause 05. These are the primary cookies set by this site.
Session storage: This site uses browser sessionStorage — not cookies — to manage certain one-time UI behaviors (such as demo animations). SessionStorage data is cleared automatically when you close your browser tab. It contains no personally identifiable information.
Third-party embed cookies: Embedded players from Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube may set their own cookies. See Clause 06.
This site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, retargeting cookies, or any cookies designed to build behavioral profiles.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use this site. Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We will not send individual notifications of updates — if this policy matters to you, we recommend checking this page occasionally.
Any changes will be written in the same plain language as this version. We will not introduce new data practices without updating this policy first.
Our commitment remains constant regardless of any updates: we will collect only what we need, use it only for the purpose it was submitted, and never sell it.
